• Medication:

     

    *District policy dictates safe medication administration for students at school. All medications (including any product that contains medication such as cough drops and ointments), whether prescription or over-the-counter, must be:

     

    • Placed in a locked cabinet in the nurse's office (*with the exception of inhalers and anaphylaxis medications, see below).

    • Provided by the parent/guardian in the original, properly labeled container.

    • Over-the-counter medications, including homeopathic treatments, must be accompanied by a permit signed by the parent/guardian.

    • All prescription medications must be accompanied by an order or physician-signed permit before it can be given at school.

    • Transported to and from school by an adult if the medication is a controlled substance (eg, ADHD medications).

    *Students ordered by their doctor to carry an epi-pen or inhaler on their person must have a current 2023-2024 medication permit on file in the nurse's office.
