•                       Emergency Medical Technician

This is a health science technology course offered as either a 1 semester dual college credit enrollment to Tarrant County Community College and Birdville I.S.D. or as a full year course partnered with ÒÀÒÀÉçÇø & MedStar Mobile Healthservices. The EMT class is open only to 12th graders due to certification requirements.   Students will be working, on weekends &/or during holidays, in local fire stations, ambulance services & emergency departments to gain hands-on experience in the EMS field.  Parents and students must understand that this course will allow students to have face-to-face interactions with patients, so certain vaccination requirements must be met.   At the end of the EMT course, & upon graduation, students may take the National Registry Certification Exam to become an Emergency Medical Technician.    Students will learn patient assessments, vital signs, splinting & wound care, CPR, EMT operations, and law.  This is a great course for anyone who wishes to become an EMT, paramedic, firefighter, nurse, or doctor.  Anatomy Physiology is a pre-requisit for this course.
